A weekend was arranged for members of the club to stay at the Prince of Wales hotel in Berkeley in
the Cotswold’s. Friday the 6th October saw some members start the weekend at Slimbridge Wetland Centre which was about 10 minutes from the hotel. Having spent a few hours photographing the
wildlife, they then proceeded to the hotel to check in. Those travelling down from work went straight
to the hotel and we all met up for drinks before our evening meal.
Saturday 7th October
We started today with a hearty breakfast. Some of the group took advantage of the buffet breakfast and had three full english. We then went to Shearness Docks. Whilst at the docks, we were invited to have a tour of a railway renovation site which was in the docks area. This was unscheduled and we
all found it very interesting.
After lunch we travelled to Purton to take images of the boats, some of which had been deliberately beached to help preserve the banks. Over the years these boats have deteriorated leaving only skeleton remains.
Back at the hotel we had a very nice evening meal and afterwards sat in the hotel lounge chatting.
We are fortunately blessed with members wives who enjoy baking and now is starting to become a tradition to eat cake on our weekends away. Our thanks to Rosa and Sue for the scrummy cakes
and to Clare who provided nibbles.
Sunday 8th October
Today we went to Westonbirt Arboretum to photograph the Autumn colours. Some of the members made their way home after that whilst a few of us went to enjoy the sunset at the Tyndale
monument at North Nibley.
Our thanks to Pete and Angie for organising another good weekend.
We look forward to our next adventure which we hope will be in April.
